Aghani FM - Audio Visual Experience

During our last project, the "Rabea Tea," commercial, we shot some footage on 16mm using the Bolex H16 camera in hopes of integrating it into the main copy.

After developing and scanning the rolls, watching the result made me feel so much nostalgia and I remembered a habit I had as a child while walking to school. Store owners back in the day used to leave the radios playing all day and night, even if the store is closed. On the trip to my school, I used to follow what’s playing from one store to another and try to keep track of the story they were featuring or talking about through the closed doors.

When I received the digital results of the 16mm scans, I remembered this experience and wanted to include it in this film which also feels close to my heart and personal in many ways.

We used a recorded stream from Aghani FM, one of the oldest radio stations in Egypt, and created this audio-visual experience. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed putting it together.
